Hi,

I downloaded the demo yesterday and followed the instructions on how to set up Tracktion to use it with analog input. Everything seems to work as expected, the velocity slider are moving up and down as I play my guitar.

However, Jamstix does not play anything except random fills, regardless which play mode I use (Manual, Free jam etc).

I also loaded my RMIII drum sampler with a simple fairly GM compatible drum kit. It still only played the random fills. The leds for kick, snare, etc, lights up as the song progresses, but the sounds are not there.

It looks like a very interesting product. Up til now I've been using a very old version of Jammer to produce drum tracks. It works reasonably well, but it's a lot of work and frustration to get a realistic feel.

I primarily work with pop songs with very strict structures, so the jamming functionality is not my main concern. But it can help me get better variations into my drum tracks and from the look of Jamstix it would simplify the workflow when I create arrangements a lot.

But, although it looks good unfortunately it does not sound...

What I'm missing here?

I might add I've been using Guitarport as input. As a soundcard it is behaving differently compared with others, since it is a guitar/bass only solution. I have not tested with my other general purpose sound card (Audiophile USB). Since the meters are catching the input I however doubt this is the source of the problem.

Hi Pgren and welcome to the board!

Let's try and see if we can sort this out.

The fact that you are seeing the velocity slider move in response to your guitar is good. It means your audio in routing to Jamstix is fine. Also, the fact you are seeing the drum sound panels light up means that Jamstix is producing. The issue lies somewhere in the output.

Please try a setup as shown in this sceenshot. You can disregard the red arrow on the left for the MIDI in.

This is a minimal setup to have Jamstix make sound. If you hit play in Tracktion, Jamstix should start after a few beats.

By the way, this assumes you have the full demo installed (81MB), not the minimal demo.

Let me know how it works!

Ok, thanks for the quick response!

I will experiment some more during the weekend and let you know.

Yes, I did install the full (80+mb) version. BTW, is there a way to check that the kit is set up correctly? I looked briefly at the mappings page and when hitting the audition button I could only hear a few of the sounds.

I installed Jamstix in a subdirectory (Jamstixdemo or something similar) in the main VST Plugin folder. Since Tracktion allows multiple plugin directories I tend to move plugins with lot of sample data to their own directories. That's probably what I do if I buy Jamstix. Is there any recommendation on where to install it?

That may be the problem. Select a sound that does not play on audition and look at the sample box. Does it say 'No Sound'?
