I have found that when using Jamstix in Cubase SX3 with Audio M8 as a channel insert that even with the trim set to 100% I cant get enough signal to operate Jamstix properly. The problem is that the signal in Audio M8 only ever gets to 25%. Is there a way of recalibrating to achieve say 75%.

Hmm, I don't see that problem but turn the input trim knob at the bottom of Jamstix a bit right to compensate.

I have sent you a screen dump, but basically with the input channel at near max and the trim on Jamstix at 100% I am only getting 25% showing on M8 that doesn't move the velocity bar enough to change the behavoiur. Or is there something else I should be doing?

In the screenshot you sent, Jamstix is not in audio jam mode. The input trim knob does not affect the needle of audioM8, it just amplifies the signal response within Jamstix so you should see healthy velocity slider response even with a lower signal in audioM8.

Please try this and advise.

I messed up there Ralph as I opened up Cubase to show you that the Audio M8 doesn't follow the meters in Cubase. In other words if the trim control was able to be increased ever further or the idicated level on M8 was more then the velocity indication would be increased. Does this make sense?

If the signal on M8 was the same as the meter in Cubase (say 80%)then the velocity slider response would be OK. Alternatively with the present 25% max I am getting on M8 the trim knob even at maximum cannot make up the signal sufficiently. When I use MIDI the response is fine as the trim knob can be varied to suit the signal and there is no need to go up to 100% as there is plenty of input. Does this make sense?

Yes, something keeps audioM8 from seeing the full volume...

When I started trying out jamstix a few months ago I had a similar problem. The volume of the signal seemed to be ok, but AudioM8 didn't get over about 25% like you mentioned. So thinking about my problems (I solved them !!!) I'd say it could help if you'd mention what kind of signal it is.

For me it's my Line6 Guitarport device. Listening to the signal it was ok, but AudioM8 didn't respond the right way. Until I found a little button in the Line6 Software, a button to raise the recording signal by 18dB. Pressing this button did the trick for me. Perhaps it's something similar in your setup ?

The problem I have Micha is I already have the maximum signal on the input in Cubase SX3, and if I increase it anymore I am going to get clipping of the audio, its basically that 0db on Cubase is not 0db on m8. But thanks for the suggestion Smile

Just an quick update for anyone who is following this thread who may be experiencing the same problem when using the Audio M8 plugin. After a few emails back and forth Ralph sent me an updated Jamstix that worked perfectly. This modification is going to be included in the next beta. Once again Jamstix support has come up with a solution instantly, its almost unbelievable. Very Happy

Thanks, Rockville Smile

Everyone: the solution will be an optional increase in the input trim knob range via the jamstix.ini file.
