Hi!

I have just bought this amazing piece of software and I'm starting to explore its capabilitities.

I have noticed that there are several different ways of using it and I was wondering which one could be the best for me. This what I'd love to do:
sometimes I have a basic idea of the rhythm I want. I'd like to instruct Jamstix in order to 'play around' the basic structure I have on my mind.

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance for your help.

Try this:

- load JS into your host
- press Play and then immediately Stop in the host so JS can get needed information
- go to the rhythm tab in JS and click the little lock icon in the right bottom area

Jamstix is now playing the pattern by itself in a loop so you can edit and listen at the same time. Start placing checkboxes as needed to build your rhythm. You can save the result to the library or just save the project in your host. Once you have the rhythm(s) you need, you can arrange them in the arranger and add fills etc. Finally, if needed, you can draw an automation envelope in your host on the Jamstix MIDI track to fine-tune velocity throughout your song. There are also dozens more parameters to control JS from the host at specific points of the song.

Make sure to open the lock icon in the rhythm tab whenever you're done with the core-editing of your rhythm.
