|

I am on Win11 using the latest JS4 Beta (4.5.0 Beta 1).
I am now seeing an error "Invalid Pointer operation" popup. It does not happen every time. It typically popups after I have left a session open like for hours or overnight. This MAY not have anything to do with it. IDK. Most likely a Win11 update did me in.
I want to do a FRESH uninstall and then Install from the Manager.
Before I do that though I want to make sure I have backed up everything I need so I can copy it back so I can get to where I was prior to this error.
Is this the only folder I need to backup?
C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4
It has the custom kits, grooves, etc that I have created over time.
I only see Uninstall in the Manager and I am pretty certain that will delete the folder above.
I looked through the manual and this forum but I only see mention on this forum of how to Install. It is probably here but I did not find it.
Thanks
Brian
PS. Should I run the JS Manager as Admin? |

Hi Brian,
How have you been doing? I hope all's good. Yes, all of your existing JS stuff is included in the C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4 folder. I don't think you'll need admin privileges for the Manager but I'm not running Win 11 so I can't say for sure. |

I have been doing quite well although it is quite cold down here. Thanks for asking.
I have lived in the south for over 25 years now so I am a wuss when it comes to cold weather these days and for some time really.
I thought that was the only folder I needed to backup.
I did this the other day and then did an Uninstall/Install through the Manager BUT forgot to check the box to include JS3 Sounds mentioned on Page 8 of the manual. I loaded a kit and the Kit Pieces were all RED Oopps. I have a backup of my drive where these should be. Can I copy these from the backup drive to a location on the drive I use? If so, where do I put those and do I need to edit an ini file or anything?
Hope all is well up there. I know it has to be colder there than here. I do not miss those lovely grey skies of OH. Yuck!

| I'm not sure but I would suspect that either C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\js4.ini or C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\jamstix4.ini would probably be what needed to be edited. You could try to do a repair install also with the Manager to see if that fixes it. You should also be able to copy what you need from your backup. |
