This may appear a bit nit-picky but I'm that kind of guy. I notice that they have different length defaults but there's not much info about how the different Part Types are intended to affect the results, or at least not in a prosy kind of way.

Also I read of the various presets JS randomly selects according to the Part Type when Style is set to Default. I couldn't find any documentation about this though. Is there any and would it be particularly useful if there were?

Does this mean that the Part Type is irrelevant once you have created your own setting or selected a different Style preset?

Have you checked out page 71 (Appendix A) of the User Manual which explains the various Song Part defaults?

Yes but it left me less than enlightened. The technical data is very welcome but a bit about the intended use/feel was what I was looking for.

They're just intended as transitional parts between main song parts. I actually asked Ralph what a "Link" was back when I first started using Jamstix. I hope that is somewhat informative for you.
