|
|
I have Jamstix 4.5 Ultimate on Windows 11 with the latest Reaper (7.16).
I'm currently working on a 1920s style piece and am using the Jazz Kit with Jazz Swing Drum Style and Jamstix recommended Jazz drummer Peter.
Is there a way to achieve the familiar 1920s effect of the short cymbal crash/splash then quickly muted? This doesn't have to be with the kit, style and drummer I'm using, any kit or style would do if this is possible.
Here are two audio samples of what I need.
1920s Cymbals Crash/Splash Samples.

1920s Cymbals Crash/Splash Samples In Context.

Thanks. |

| Why not just use a Cymbal choke? |

Thanks for replying Azimuth.
Well, I found the Cymbal choke in the Groove panel cymbals list but I can't find how to apply it.
I tried just adding this next to a cymbal but nothing happened. I've spent ages searching online and through the manual. I did find references to the Cymbal choke but no details on how to use it.
I know I'm missing something basic and apologise for this. Would you kindly give me steps on how to use it and I thank you in advance for this. |

| You have to add the choke to the opposite "hand". You then control the delay before the choke with either the +48, +32, +24 offsets or placing it in a later cell in the Bar Editor. You can also use the offsets in the later cell if you want to "fine tune" the choke. Hope this helps. |

I insist: Azimuth for Emperor of the Known and Unknown Universe.
Wait… that would not be good for the forum. |
