We are happy to announce the release of DrumPak #2!

http://www.rayzoon.com/drumpak2.html

500MB! The biggest Pak, yet!

It's a Mapex kit with Remo heads, Zildjian A and Meinl Lang cymbals. Most importantly it comes in stick and rod-played versions and each of those comes in standard Jamstix format as well as the new 'closed stereo' format.

YOU MUST HAVE JAMSTIX 1.42 TO USE DRUMPAK #2!

I haven't even listened to the demos - but I've still paid the money as I just know it will be worth having!

One question - these drumpacks are quite sizeable (and seem to be getting bigger). Is there, or will there be, an option to store these sounds on (say) a CD and load from there? It would help those who only have smallish drives. Not really a problem for me, but I can see how it might be for some users.

Well, a full JS load today (default+DP1+DP2+Brushpak) is about 1.2GB of sound data. In today's age of 250GB drives, this really shouldn't be an issue at all.

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Another great product at the right price! Very Happy

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference between sticks and rods?

Yes - on the face of it, I'd agree with you. However, large drives have mainly evolved because users are keeping larger files. It's not that long ago when we didn't have acres of audio and/video cluttering up the place.

I'm aware that not everyone can afford these huge drives and laptop users can't get anything much above 100 Gb (and 2.5" drives are a lot more expensive, so these guys lose out both ways). Couple these facts with the big files that they are trying to use and they might welcome the opportunity to offload the 500 odd Mb of DP2.

I imagine you are going to produce more sample packs, as time passes. When you get to around the half dozen mark, it might become a bit of an issue for some users - particularly if they only want to use specific kit.

It was just a thought......

You can burn the whole Jamstix folder to the root of a CD and then remove it from the HD, leaving just the DLLs in place. Next time Jamstix launches, it won't find its data and ask for it. Point it to the CD drive and it will use it.

We used Pro-Mark Hot-Rods, which are bundles of thin wood wrapped by plastic bands. The are commonly used by drummers in very small venues where the volume of stick playing is a problem. Over time, many drummers took a liking to the unique sound that rods produce and are using them in many studio recordings.

OK - that would be a good way to work for those who are short of space Smile .
