Cubase 12 is now out and doesn’t not officially support VST2 😕
Anyone tried Jamstix in it yet?

Any news on a VST 3 version?

Where are you seeing that?
This is from the update notes…
Quote:
Due to technical reasons the following plug-ins and technologies have been removed from the product scope

VST instruments: Mystic, Prologue, Specter, LoopMash are no longer included in the factory content of Cubase.
Cubase no longer supports ReWire.
VST 2 plug-ins are no longer supported on Apple silicon Macs running in native mode.
Running Cubase in Rosetta mode still allows you to load VST 2 plug-ins.
MPEX is also no longer available on Apple silicon Macs running in native mode.
The GoPro VR player has been removed.
MixConvert (legacy VST

And this is from the System Requirements….
Quote:
This software version does not support 32-bit plug-ins. VST 2 plug-ins only run in Rosetta 2 mode on Apple silicon Mac. Cubase does not support VST 2 when running natively on Apple silicon Macs. Microsoft Basic Display Driver is not recommended.

But it looks like, in general, VST 2 is sill supported. I know they mentioned thy will drop support for VST 2 within 2 years but maybe the next version?
Plus, I am not seeing any VST 2 discussions in the forum and I would imagine dropping VST 2 so soon would start a firestorm of complaints.
I will almost certainly update to C12 next week anwill test out Jamstix.

Perhaps I should have said that the status of VST2 is ambiguous. I’m hopeful all will be good, but would be reassured to hear that it has been tested.

Also hoping for Jamstix to be issued in VST3 format to ensure it is available for another generation or three of DAWs….

FWIW, I cannot open Jamstix in Cubase 12 (on PC, Win 10) at all.

I do have other DAWs, but for some things Cubase is the best and not being able to use Jamstix with it anymore is a real drag.

Does Jamstix need to be remade in a VST3 version in order to work with Cubase 12 and beyond?

I bit the bullet and installed Cubase 12 (still running Win10).

So far so good with Jamstix - seems to be running smoothly Cool
