I enter a kick/snare pattern on the bar editor via mouse clicks.
I click Brain>Extract from other Style>Metal>Modern Metal and add both Groove-HiHatQ and Groove-HiHatE.
I click Preview and now HiHats are generated, as expected, so I go to Bar> save Groove as style>choose 1 bar and name it.
As soon as I hit save, the Groove-HiHatQ and Groove-HiHatE elements disappear even though the generated HiHats stay in the bar editor (even when selecting Recompose)?
The problem is I can no longer adjust the HiHats since the elements are gone. I also use these controls to assign the Groove-HiHatE Power to an EXP pedal to switch the hihats from quarter to eighth notes on the fly.
So, I go back and again click Brain>Extract from other Style>Metal>Modern Metal and select both Groove-HiHatQ and Groove-HiHatE to re-add them. Then, click Brain>Save style preset and they stick around this time, but whenever I go back and reload the style (like in the song builder), the Groove-HiHatQ and Groove-HiHatE are gone again. When switching to the Default preset, they disappear and reclicking the style preset I just made doesn't bring them back either?
It happens on v4.4.6, so I upgraded to beta v4.5 and it still happens. This is an i5 running Win7 with Bandlab as the host.
Am I doing something wrong, do extracted parts from other styles just not save to a newly created style, or is it a bug? |

General rules of thumb:
a) If you extract from other style, save as a style preset.
b) If you extract from other player, save as a player preset.
I just tested this to see if there was an issue and it is working as expected. I composed a song with the Jamstix Classic style, extracted the Hi-Hat Q & E from Modern Metal then saved/named a style preset. I then used the Song Builder to create a song using the Jamstix Classic style with the named style preset I previously saved and the song composed properly with the extracted brain elements included. This was with 4.5 beta. |

Hey Azimuth, thanks for responding! Not wanting to add a bunch of presets to an existing style, I created a kick/snare pattern with no style or drummer selected and then saved groove as a new style. Then, extracted elements to auto generate the HiHats and saved this as a style preset. Every time I saved the new style, it caused the HiHat-Q/HighHat-E to disappear from the screen? The style preset stayed, but the added elements were not there when choosing it again.
I may have found the culprit. I think it has something to do with a lot of "access violations" and "out of bounds" errors that have been happening recently for some unknown reason? Today, on a fresh reboot, I went through the same process again and it finally stayed in place. I think when these error warnings pop-up, it breaks something temporarily. It seems a reboot gives everything a fresh start. Weird.
Another quick question. If these errors and warnings keep happening (usually clicking menus and especially 'clear song' trigger them), I may need to do a Repair Installation. Can this be done with the beta version installed or will it mess it up since original install was on 4.4.6? |

| Doing a repair installation shouldn't hurt anything. The repair will use the newer (or older, depending on whether you updated or rolled back) files that were installed with that version. Just so you know, I do get random errors occasionally also. |
