|

I have now tried twice to accomplish this, and I'm sure it's something simple!!
I did the offline install thing with manager, but I cannot locate the .dll nor the data.
I had Use JS3 Sounds unchecked.
How can I do this please, as I want to install to a non-system drive? |

| In the Jamstix Manager under "Install Options", you can choose where the installation occurs via the "Select Folder" buttons for each category. Is that not working for you? |

Yes, but there is still stuff going to C drive? Under Program Data. I selected the D for both the install and the VST location.
On the D drive (that I selected in the install options) I get - cache and data
Under the C Programs Data I get - bin,data,installer,logs,revisions and jamstx4.ini |

Nope, just confirmed it again, I can even show you a picture of the installer windows if you like!
D 100% selected, I actually moved the Jamstix Data folder out of C and ran the installer again, just checked and those folder are AGAIN in C and not on D!!!
and further, if I move those folder manually to the D drive and open the VST, it will not run as it cannot find the data on the C drive?
I think there is a bug in the installer perhaps? And the way Program Manager logs you out when you double-check on Install options is dead annoying too!! |

The issue I think is the actual JS4.dll is "hard wired" to look to the C:/Jamstix Data file to load.
This is what needs to change I think, although hahaha I'm not a programmer so just pure speculation on my part |

Yes, core files are always stored under C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4 but the total size is minor. The big stuff (samples) will go to the selected drive. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

thanks Ralph.
Just as a supplementary - assuming I've installed as I outlined (and with the needed stuff going to C , If I reload the OS, all I need do is re-install from Manager, with the install without data option is ticked, yes? |

Actually, if you reload the OS, I think the best thing to do is to is to start the manager, connect, click 'Set all to Repair' and let it install. It will re-use the last downloaded copies so no long downloads required.
Option B is to simply keep a copy of C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4 and to copy it back after the OS reload. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I've had the same challenge with re-installing the OS when the JS data is on a different drive. It's actually quite easy when you know, but wasn't obvious to me at the time...
Maybe worth adding the steps to the Troubleshooting section in the manual?
With Win11 on the horizon, I suspect quite a few people will end-up doing rebuilds... |
