Hello. I am using JamStix 3 hosting in Cakewalk By BandLab (CWBL). I'm having trouble generating midi output.

So first, I confirm that Enable Midi Output is checked in the CWBL Synth Rack. I have JamStix (JS) hosted in a CWBL Audio Track: I set the Midi Out of that track to Ch1. .On the JS Kit page, I instruct JS to output midi data on Ch1. I then create a midi track in CWBL and assign its midi input to JS Ch1. I arm the track for recording and start recording. Nothing get recorded on the midi track.

I have a weird problem with Midi Export and Midi Drag and Drop in JS. If I do Midi Drag and Drop using Ctrl click-drag to drag the song name from the song sheet in JS into a midi track in CWBL, midi data will appear in the CWBL midi track, but it will have many measures blank (where JS is playing and should be generating midi data). I have a similar problem with Midi Export in JS: if I execute Midi Export, a file is created and I can open that file in CWBL, but again it will contain midi data with many blank measures.

I know I have successfully recorded the midi output of JS onto a midi track of CWBL, but I must be doing something wrong this time. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hello. I was able to solve the recording midi output problem. I did this by switching ON the Enable Midi Output in JS Options General page.

However, this did not resolve the problems I am having with Export Midi and the Ctrl-Drag-and-Drop export of midi to the DAW host.

It seems confusing to me that JS has options to enable midi output on both the Kit page and the General Options page - this leads to problem like I have experienced where midi output is enabled on one page but not enabled on another page. I suggest consolidating these two switches onto the same page to avoid this kind of user confusion.

The MIDI output options on the Kit page and the one under Options are two different things. The Kit page option (Set All To MIDI OUTPUT ONLY) is to disable all of Jamstix' internal samples and allow ONLY midi to be output. The one under Options is what allows Jamstix to output midi to your DAW or other VST plugins.
