Hi All,
Brand new to the DAW world. I downloaded the free version of JS 4. I love the drum sounds but can't figure out how to save anything. I have 4 separate tracks with individual drum pieces. I've renamed and saved the preset in the JS window but whenever I shut the computer down then come back, there are no sounds on the Jam tix tracks so I have to reopen jamstix and then reload a drumkit in the window, hit MIDI playback then the sounds are back. All I've done is just moussed and clicked different drums in separate tracks in the piano roll of Mixcraft 9 pro.
Thanks for any insight! |

| When you say "saved the preset", I'm not quite sure what you are referring to. Are you configuring a kit a specific way and saving that or saving a song within Jamstix? I know the save options are limited in the free version but off the top of my head I don't remember what is "limited". |

Wow, thanks for the quick response!
Sorry to be so ignorant on this. All I'm doing is opening a track in my DAW, then opening jamstix in the track. I then navigate to rock, then big kit, then load. After "big kit" comes up in the jamstix window I click on "Midi Playback".
I open my DAW piano roll and just insert a kick drum in the track using the mouse click. I don't really make any changes in jamstix to the kick drum. I then just click on the "save preset" icon in jamstix, and type in "kick" then the song name and hit save ( or maybe it says ok instead of save, don't remember right now ). So when I shut down the computer and come back to it, all of the "kicks" are still in the track but with no sound until I open jamstix back up and re-navigate to everything again. So I'm not sure if I'm even saving anything in jamstix. I just figured that when I re-open the DAW that jamstix would already be active in the "kick" track. That's how the other plug-ins are. I know I'm missing something super simple, I just don't know what.
Thanks Again |

There's nothing ignorant about what you've asked. I'm still not sure what you are referring to with this. I don't use Mixcraft but what I think you need to do if is set everything up how you want it and then save the song/project (not sure of Mixcraft's terminology) in Mixcraft. Then re-open the song/project in Mixcraft so it loads what you've saved. |

Thanks again for the response!
I'm constantly saving the project as I go and everything always comes back right where I left off except for jamstix. I have other projects saved in Mixcraft as well that I won't re-open for a month or so, and when I re-open them, everything will be there as it was saved. I use a virtual Bass and a virtual guitar in my songs and they always just re-load in the tracks they're in. Is it maybe because you can't save anything in the free version? It must be something simple I'm missing like not saving the "kit" right or not changing a default setting in jamstix.
Sorry for the brain damage! |

I'm back,
Been doing some reading and think I've totally screwed up my explanation in the first couple of posts. I think it's the way I set up the tracks in Mixcraft. I had totally forgotten that the kick track was actually wrote by using a virtual drum instrument plug-in that came with Mixcraft. So what I did was duplicate that track and opened up jamstix in the duplicated track. It plays awesome while it's open, but then when I shut things down and reopen it, the kicks are still in the piano roll but there's no sound until I reopen jamstix. Is there maybe a way for jamstix to (for lack of a better word) overwrite or take over that track from the Mixcraft drums?
Sorry for the complete 180! |

Well, I just wrote the kick drum part in a totally new track without the Mixcraft drums even involved and the exact same thing is happening so I'm giving up which really sucks because I love the sound of Jamstix.
Thanks so much for trying to help me!!! |

Absolutely no need to be sorry!!!
Thanks so much for your help. If I thought that this issue is just in the free version, I would purchase jamstix right now but I just don't know.
But once again, Thank You!! |

| I wish I could definitely tell you it is because of the free version but I honestly do not know that for sure. I do not think it is, but that is purely a guess. |
