|
|
Hello. I am using Jamstix 3 in Cakewalk by BandLab (CWBBL). I am hoping to use Jamstix to drive the sound engine of EZDrummer 2 (EZD2). So far, I haven't gotten it to work, and I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
1 - create song project in CWBBL
2 - add track to song project to host JS3; enable Midi Output in JS3; set track Midi Channel to Omni
3 - load Rock - Complete Dry kit in JS3 and compose complete drum performance; verify that JS3 plays drum performance on JS3 kit
4 - add new track to song project to host EZD2; set track Midi Input to JS3; load default drum kit into EZD2; set track Midi Channel to Omni; verify that EZD2 is outputting audio by mouse-clicking EZD2 kit pieces.
5 - in JS3 change kit to EZDrummer; verify that JS3 is no longer outputting audio
6 - in CWBBL press play; no drum audio is heard from either JS3 or EXD2; EZD2 displays no midi input
It looks to me like EZD2 is not getting the midi data from JS3, tho' there may be other things I've forgotten to do or some other problem.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks |

Do you have "enable midi out" enabled in JS3 options? I don't remember the exact wording or location in JS3 but it is in options.
EDIT: I just checked Enable Midi Out is on the Options>General page. |

Hello. Thanks for your reply.
Why yes - I have to do that.
It is a bit confusing because in CWBBL, if you Rt-Click on the Synth Rack icon for JS3, there is an option to Enable Midi Output. This has been checked, and I thought all is good. BUT, that does not mean the JS3 - Options - General - Enable Midi Output is checked.
So I needed to go to JS3 - Options - General - Enable Midi Output and make sure that was checked. And I still didn't get audio from EZD2. I then needed to make sure the EZD2 Synth Properties page was displayed in CWBBL (I still need to figure out how to get CWBBL to display two VST instruments simultaneously). Then, I got audio from EZD2. Properly driven by JS3.
So now it seems to be working properly. Thank you for your suggestion. |
