I downloaded the free version to demo/review and had no issues getting it up and going in my DAW (Reaper). Also no issues with choosing, kit, drummer, etc... Created a very basic 'song' for testing and it plays well through Reaper. So far, so good.

My one issue so far is that I'm not getting an item/instance for my track in Reaper. The track appears blank. There literally isn't anything to see or click on, even though the drum track is definitely there. There's no way to fade in/out, move, split or do anything else to the track.

Is this because it's the free/demo version or am I missing something? MT Drums (free/demo) automatically created a nice midi item that I could see and work with and I guess I was expecting a similar result with JS, either a midi or audio item.

Except for this wrinkle, very pleased with what looks likes a very powerful and well crafted tool.

Any advice, tips or suggestions?

Thanks!

No, you are not missing anything. You do not see anything in your Reaper tracks because Jamstix is creating the drum parts.

Have you tried rendering your song with 'blank' Jamstix tracks? Reaper will render it just as you are hearing it.

However, if you wish, you can record the Jamstix MIDI output into a Reaper track. You could then have another drum kit play the MIDI that you recorded. Just route the Jamstix output to a blank track where you have told Reaper to record the MIDI output. Probably best to have Jamstix in DOWNMIX mode (under Mixer settings) when you do this.

Hi Red_Lizard,

Make sure that "Enable Midi Output" is also enabled in Options>General Options. I do not remember whether that is enabled by default or not.

Thank you both for your replies.

Michael - rendering the blank Jamstix track generated a new track with the audio item that I was expecting, so all good now.

A_zimuth - will check on the midi settings tomorrow, but I believe I'm good now

Hi Red_Lizard,

Disregard my suggestion if you are recording audio out of Jamstix, not midi. I misunderstood and thought you were trying to record the midi to your Reaper track.

A_zimuth - appreciate the help. Audio good for right now, but good to know about midi for down the road.
