I am having trouble understanding some of the concepts with Jamstix. I am attempting to build a song from a groove I created. I have placed all the parts together and built the song. I am just trying to figure out a few concepts so I can edit without worry about messing up what I have.

From the manual:

If you want Jamstix to always create a separate part for each of your selections and not condense or combine subsequent parts of the same type, uncheck the box ‘Condense Parts’.

1. What does this mean? What is my selection and what happens if I condense it or combine it?

Also from the manual:

The check box ‘Link Like Parts’ determines if parts of the same type should be linked or not.
A linked part will always be a perfect copy of its parent part (the first part of its type). This is
useful for songs where parts repeat in fully identical fashion.

What does of the same type mean? Does this mean a verse and a verse? If so, does this mean. If so, if I change a part in the first verse will it change the second, but not vice versa? If I change the fill on verse 1 will it change the fill in verse 2 unless I unlink?

Lastly on the composition controls there is an explanation of FULL, AUTO and BAR. Can anyone explain this better than the manual? It says FULL will recompose the whole part. What is the part? For example a part is a VERSE or a bar? It says if Auto is on it recomposes the whole part. How is this different from FULL? What happens when I hit recompose?

Thank you in advance for any information and help!

Condense parts means if you build 4 bars of chorus and then another 4 bars of chorus, it will make 1 part with 8 bars of chorus.
Like parts are, as you suspected, chorus, verse, etc.
Save your work when fiddling!
The Part is any “section” you have created and named in the left panel (the song sheet.)
I think Auto recomposes immediately but full recomposes next time it is played.
