Hi all,
this is my first topic - please bear with me.
I bought Jamstix and like it a lot.
Still have to get the idea what's going on..
I use Cubase (but put it not into that category, because probably it's a general understanding question).
So, I have Jamstix playing with some different bars in a song.. and I played some instruments and recorded them while jamstix was playing into tracks.
Ok, that worked. But: I want Jamstix to shut up when my selected region in cubase ends. It does (but somewhere abruptly in its jamming, which does not fit to the recorded stuff and still keeps playing), but the question is:
Do I have to define exactly how long jamstix will play? And so how?
Do I have do define exactly which length there is? So how do I know which absolute time the bars will take and how to translate that into the time measurement Cubase has?
The difficulty here is for me (being used having the midi-events shown in the drum-track, but jamstix does not show them there, but keeps them in its own) to know what jamstix does. It does not seem to care what is going on in other tracks inside cubase. But probably this is not possible.
I hope you get what I mean. So maybe I have to use a special mode?
The core question still is: How to translate the length of what is inside jamstix into my selection in the DAW? Or how can it be stopped when the selection defines the end of all events?
Or do I need to render to audio first?
I'm somewhat confused.
What I was used to: Having all (drum) Midi-events in a track. So I could control it from there and see what's going on. Of course I could use midi out and route jamstix to another VSTi.
But I hope to use still jamstix only. |

Hello:
In the song structure to the left you put the different parts (verse, chorus, bridge, and so on) that your song has and for each of them you need to specify the duration in terms of number of bars. So your song and Jamstix will end simultaneously. I would guess you are now working in jam mode, |

So, I tried again and shortened the length of my bar and the song only has one part right now. But Jamstix is still repeating this one part over and over - seems to be in loop-mode? Is there a way to find the right knob?
Tried it in Normal, MIDI and Audio-Jam Mode - same result.
Any help is welcome. |

What number is shown under "REPS" in the song sheet for the part? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I have the number 1 shown for REPS - tried to change it to zero, but this seems not possible. |

Make sure 'Enable Song Looping' in the JS4 Options is NOT checked.
You should then see Jamstix play only from Bar 1 to bar X with X being the part length set in the song sheet. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
