This song by Cream called "Train time" has a train beat snare in it.

So does "Jesusland" by Ben Folds.

It is like a marching snare but the marching seems to have more variation such as diddles and paradiddles (I am probably saying those terms wrong) with the accents varied. This "train" is more consistent like steady sixteenth notes with an accented quarter note. It is like playing the 16th high hat softly on the snare maybe? Anyway, I just wondered if there is a name for this.
Another really neat one is Chuck Mangione's "Children of Sanchez".

At about a minute in, there is a really cool snare pattern. This one is closer to a marching type I guess but one of my favorites. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. Scarlett 2i2. M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Komplete 8. Jamstix 3.6. Absolute 3 VST. 418 Carrier Landings.

You're talking about a "CHICK-a chick-a CHICK-a chick-a" rhythm?
There was a similar post several years ago (might have been from me??? or at least I took an interest in it). I recall that Ralph pointed to one of the styles in the Country section.
I don't have access to Jamstix right now to look up which one, but it seemed like it was named appropriately to suggest the "train" sound. |

How did I miss that? That is the sound I was referring to. Thanks for pointing it out. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. Scarlett 2i2. M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Komplete 8. Jamstix 3.6. Absolute 3 VST. 418 Carrier Landings.
