Hello
I'm trying to lay down a guitar and drums track- using Normal Jam- and changing elements of Jamstix as I go- for example removing a piece of kit- but Jamstix just ignores my changes.
How can I do this, please ? If I click ' reset ' I have to start everything from scratch.
I love the Jamstix sound but I'm finding that it isn't intuitive to use.

I'll stick with it though.

OK- let me put it another way;
Can I fine-tune Jamstix while I work in Normal Jam mode ? If so- how are the changes saved ?

Help me understand better. You are removing a piece from the kit and it somehow shows back up?

Hello Ralph- how you doing ? I haven't spoken with you in years.

No- removing a piece was just analogous. I want to develop the kit and sounds as I record- but I don't know how to tinker with it. If, for example, I set out my song elements with, say, the basic Normal Jam set-up , hit Create Song and play Jamstix in Reaper I have a rudimentary drum track along with which I can play guitar. If I want to change the drum sounds though I can't just replace the drummer, or style and continue developing my drum sound with everything else intact because my changes don't register.
I'm looking for a way to save my changes but I can't find it. Everything I try results in the loss of the set-up I've achieved to date and my song goes to default.

Now- I know it's in the manual somewhere but I just thought I'd ask here for a simple and fast answer. It's an amazing piece of software, Ralph- ingenious- and it's the answer to my recording prayers- if it will only do what I want ' on the fly '.

Hi moon,
If you just want to change the kit piece sounds then in the "Kit" window in the lower left corner, highlight the kit piece you want to modify. Then to the right where it shows the kit piece and sample name (blue lettering) click there. In the window that opens, choose the "Filter" & "Preview" check boxes and then go through the list of to find the sound that you'd like to use. If you don't select "Filter", it will show samples for all kit pieces. If you don't choose "Preview", you will have to load each selection to hear the result. Also, make sure that you change to the same related sample for kit pieces with multiple articulations or you can wind up with some strange sounding drums. HTH

Hello HTH

Thank you- I've followed that through but I haven't applied any changed sounds to my track yet. I'm assuming that I would then click ' Load ' in order for the sound to change ?

Also- I don't understand what you're telling me here;

OK - that works fine and ' Load ' just addresses the tone change I made.
Now what if I want to change, say, the drum style ? Is there a way to load just the new style without losing my song structure ?

I'm sorry if this all basic stuff but I'm flying on the success of my first piece and bursting to do some more with more personal input.

Some drums have multiple articulations such as the Snare for example. If you load a different Snare sound for let's say the Snare Center articulation, then you should also load the matching articulations from the new Snare sound to keep the drum sound consistent.

Your song structure will not be changed by loading a new style only the composition/performance will change. If that's not what you wanted to know let me know.

Thanks, that's clear now.

Yes- that's what I wanted to know but it isn't happening here.

I set my song structure with selected kit, drummer and style. I click ' Create Song '. Reaper plays it. All good.
Now- I change ' Style ' - just change it, nothing else. My song structure remains but the original style plays even though the new style is there in blue.. I haven't saved anything in Reaper.
I can't see any option to switch to that new style for Jamstix to take it on board other than the ' Reset ' button. However, if I use the Reset button my song structure is lost.
So I need to know how to tweak my kit, style and drummer and have Jamstix recognise those changes.

Changing the sounds of the kit components as you showed me works fine- because there's an option to load the changes. I can't find that option for style, drummer or kit.

Changing style or drummer or any other setting for a specific part AFTER your song has been built in the song builder, is done by clicking GROOVE, highlighting the desired part and clicking the style or drummer name in the brain display.

OK Ralph- I've cracked it. It was a matter of using the ' Recompose ' button after I'd made changes. I can also preview the changes using the ' Preview ' button.
Just what I wanted. You're a clever guy !

Regards.
