This is an old song I decided to redo. It is one of those that I just wrote the lyrics and melody in about 5 minutes. And you can tell:) It was written around 1997.
Anyway in 1998 I moved away from where I grew up in the Cincinnati, OH area to a little town called Fuquay-Varina, NC. I am sure everyone on this site knows about Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Before I moved I was jamming with some folks and one of them is the singer on this song who recently passed away. We only did one version of the vocals and this is it. I just redid everything else this week.
I used Mike on this one and he did an admiral job on the drums I think.
Now that I have Jamstix, I have an entire arsenal of useless drummer jokes. Not jokes about useless drummers, well some of them are, but useless as in "they are not funny anymore" useless since I have Jamstix.
I hope you guys enjoy it.
Should I do a harmony on the first solo?

Thanks
Brian

| Good song Brian, really enjoyed it. Only big complaint is the Drums are too Metal sounding IMO for the song. Solo is fine as is IMO also. It sucks losing old friends, sorry to hear about that. Cincinnati is still doing OK if you're wondering from my view in Clermont Couny. |

Brian, I really like what you did there. Great performances and mix!
Also noticed how you let Mike be busy in the some parts and restrained in others (i.e. Ending). Just a great job all around. Sorry about your friend! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks for having a listen and the compliments. Mike wants to beat the drums but luckily he can be restrained.

| It was a really good song. It excellent too that the voice of your mate can transcend and remain for others through this work. |

a couple of the other guys i was jamming with at the time were a lot closer to the singer. they really appreciated hearing it. since they had not heard it in so long, it was a real emotional moment for them since to them it was just music until they heard that familiar voice. |

That right there is one of those special things that making music can provide. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Kevin
I used SSD4 Slate Metal 05 kit. I added a touch of UAD EL7 Fatso SR and Neve 1073 on the same track with JS4 and SSD4.
Normally I Build Multichannel Routing in Reaper and treat each kit piece if needed but for some reason (probably time) I didn't do it that way on this song.
I did not tweak anything at all on SSD4.
Again I am really sorry I took so long to reply.
The glory goes to JS IMO though. JS will make any sample library sound great IME.

Good song. Really like what you did with it. JS really can do metal very well.
Sorry to hear about your friend. Ralph is right in that music is very spiritual, that's why it affects us the way it does. It's just on a whole 'nother level.
Listened to Idea 0. Man that needs some words and vocals on it!! Really good work on that too. JS on that? our playing is really tasteful.
Listening to Idea 1. Another nice tune that needs some vocals on there!!
