|

I've run into a problem with importing some of my Guitar Pro MIDI drum tracks. Guitar Pro lets you choose between 2 different snare sounds, represented by numbers 38 & 40. I have GP files with both. The ones with the '40' snare don't import into Jamstix correctly. I'd like to mass edit all of those files and change the 40's to 38's instead of doing it by hand (way too tedious).
Is there a simple way to do this? Apparently Reaper has a MIDI drum editor, but I don't know if that's what I'm looking for. Please advise. Thanks! |

| I don't have a midi file to test this out but if you edit your C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps\Input\GM.mdmap file and change the line 1=38 to 1=38,40 I think that will take care of it. |

| I edited my GM.mdmap file as you described and I *think* the issue has been resolved. Thanks. Much easier solution than what I had in mind. |

I still have issues. I created a basic MIDI file for all the Toms. One bar of 6/4, with a tom played on each quarter note (41, 43, 45, 47, 48, & 50). I realize JS only shows 5 toms when viewing the kit screen.
When I import the MIDI file and look at it in the groove window, it doesn't show anything for beats 1 & 2. For beats 3 thru 6 it shows the following toms: 16", 12", 10", & 8". The 14" tom isn't represented for some reason. I'm using one of the big kits.... Rock - Big Kit, or Rock - Everything. What am I not doing right?
Edit: I just looked at my GM.mdmap file and there's only entries for 4 toms, not 5. Toms 1-3, and 5. I guess that explains why tom 4 is skipped? But *why* is it skipped. Why doesn't it have an entry?
40=50 ;Tom 1 Center
42=48 ;Tom 2 Center
44=47 ;Tom 3 Center
48=45 ;Tom 5 Center
Unrelated but related question... can you create a custom kit with more than 5 toms? |

40=48,50 ;Tom 1 Center
42=47 ;Tom 2 Center
44=45 ;Tom 3 Center
46=43 ;Tom 4 Center
48=41 ;Tom 5 Center
You can't create a kit with more than 5 Toms. |

| Thanks. I'm sorry for being so dense if I'm missing something obvious, but what do the numbers to the left of the "=" represent? I'm very familiar with the MIDI numbers on the right. |
