Hi
thanks for your prompt an efficient replies... your support is the BEST EVER!

One thing that woud really improve Jamstix... and I know it is a major thing...

If it could be operated as a drum machine/arranger (as it does) but in 'Stand-Alone' mode... if you could just open it up on your desktop and start programming beats into it... so you didn't have to go through all the hassle of opening Cubase very time you want to work on a drum beat.

Battery and BFD have this ability... but sadly they are not very good tools for composing great drum arrangements.

Do you know that apart from Fruity Loops (which was limited in it's capabilities) Jamstix is the first ever drum machine/sequncer/arranger that has actually ever been produced... I mean it's what veryone has always wanted.. but no-one (until now) has bothered to make such an essential piece of software... they are all busy trying to make 'virtual synthesizers'... I play acosutic and electric guitar.... and what I've been wanting for 5 years now is something just like what you guys have made!
Not endless streams of 'virtual vintage synths'
Thank YOU!!

Much appreciate you very kind words!

Please try MiniHost and SAVIHost, which give you near stand-alone capability with Jamstix.

SAVIHost is an executable that you can place in the Jamstix folder and rename to jamstix.exe and it will then load Jamstix at launch time.

Another vote for MiniHost - I use it alot for just playing/testing VSTi without needing to fire up my sequencer - very good (and free!)

I encourage anyone who uses MiniHost routinely to register it with TobyBear so he can continue development. Toby is a great guy that has helped development of many plugins, including Jamstix.

Hi Ralph, do you have a preference between the two?

No preference. I am used to MiniHost but SAVIHost has audio input in case you want to audio jam.

When I unzip the Savihost file in the Jamstix folder, I do not see an exe file.

There is only the Savihost application file that I tried renaming to jamstix.exe. I then click on it and get an error.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Dave

Yes, you are supposed to place savihost.exe in the same folder as jamstix.dll and then rename it to jamstix.exe.

What error are you getting?

Got it.

XP was hiding certain operational and exe files. I unchecked that and the Savihost exe file appeared.

All is well for the moment.
