I bought Jamstix 3 a couple of years ago and now have JS4, but never took the time to try learning it until now!
A couple of questions:
1. I really like the ride cymbal work of John Densmore. Is there a player or brain elements that would get me in the ballpark?
2. I'm using JS4 with BFD3 and the Virtually Erskine expansion that has a really great sounding rivet ride with three articulations: edge, hit, and bell. I would like to use all three on the same cymbal, but it appears that only hit and bell are available. I understand that I could use another cymbal for the edge, but I would like to maintain the timing of everything played on the same cymbal. Is there a workaround for this? |

1) Reduce min power in 'Power Hand' to force the hihat notes to the ride and then play with additional hihat notes to get inventive ride work similar to Densmore. For example, if you have 'Sophistica', extract 'Hihat' from style 'Cool Hats Custom'. If you have 'LinearFunk', extract 'Filler Hats' from 'Gari' and play with the amount. Also, you can use right-click on hat-generating brain elements and enable BIAS to shift the notes forward or backward within the bar. You can also have multiple note generators creating hihat notes and use 'Amount' to get the right balance for your taste.
2) I would map the edge sound to a cymbal that's positioned close to the ride (China 1, Splash 2, Crash 3) _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Thanks! I just bought Sophistica and will give all of your suggestions a try. |
