EDIT: This is obsolete for the latest versions of Jamstix 1 and 2
If you are running XP SP2 and 'Data Execution Protection' (DEP) is enabled for user programs in your Windows settings (Control Panel->System->Advanced->Performance/Data Execution Prevention), Jamstix may crash.
Please disable DEP for your host(s) as follows:
- Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
- On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
- On the Data Execution Prevention tab, click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select and then select your host application(s)
Alternatively, you can disable DEP for all but system services. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

If you want to get rid of this nuisance completely, change your boot.ini to :
/noexecute=alwaysoff and reboot.
Should be better on a DAW anyway, at least if you keep it warez- and virus-free.
Use at your own risk,
cheers, Rhino |

I'm new to Jamstix, and have been having many problems trying to get Jamstix working in Cubase. I have now tried, unsuccessfully, on two machines, and really don't know how to proceed from here.
On my desktop machine, I forgot to put the license file in the Jamstix directory, so I figured that this was the problem. However, I installed Jamstix on my laptop to check whether this was the problem, but get the same errors- crashes Cubase. FYI: I have followed the procedures in this thread for shutting off the DEP.
I'm using Win Xp Prof (SP2) and Cubase SX3 on my desktop; Win XP Home (SP2) and Cubase SL3 on my laptop. When I bring Jamstix up, it simply stalls Cubase- every time! I did manage to bring Jamstix up once in FL5 on my lappy, hoping that this other host would enable the Activation process to complete. It appears that it did. However, as soon as I tried to bring it up in Cubase SL3- it stalled Cubase, again. Now, I cannot bring up Jamstix on either machine, under any host. I have tried uninstalling Jamstix and cheking the registry to see if there are any remnants, but nothing seems to work. I've now spent hours trying to get Jamstix to work on my Win XP machines. Please advise, as I have no idea what's going on here. |

| OK, I was just able to load Jamstix in Tobybear's Mini Host, however, it's the same same deal, whenever I try to load it in Cubase SX 3.1. So, I know it's registered, as I can check the about screen in Jamstix, when it comes up in Mini-Host. I would guess that this is significant. Surely, people are using this product in Cubase SX with Windows XP (SP2)? |

OK, I had a stupid attack! Don't let this happen to you:
rush through the installation process; I missed step that kept me from running Jamstix, until Ralph analyzed the log file and saw that I didn't run the data setup prog, after running the Jamstix 1.4.2 setup file; in fact, I hadn't even downloaded it, until he brought it to my attention
Hopefully, this post will keep the same thing from happeningn to the next person. Once again, make sure you download the Jamstix installation file AND the data setup file. Run one after the other, else Jamstix will stall in the middle of a run.
Thanks, for your attention to this matter and your patience, Ralph. |
