|
|
Hello Guys;
I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, but midi import is giving me some odd results. Here are the steps I'm using:
1. I create a two bar pattern using jamstix by manually entering data
2. I export the pattern as a midi file
3. I start a new song and then import the midi file
4. I click "Create"
The results are totally unuseable. It's stuff like 4-5 empty bars followed by drum hits at no tempo or pattern.
I'm doing something wrong. What is it?
Thanks |

| When you build your new song, choose "Import" as the style then build your song. Then in the Brain in the Groove window "Groove Importer" element, "click to load" and choose the 2 bar midi file you exported in the folder you saved it in. |

Hello A_zimuth
Many thanks for the reply.
I followed your instructions and still get a defective file. I even checked the two bar original to make sure it wasn't corrupted and it was fine, but the outputted file, however, is just a mess.
Any other thoughts? |

| Are you using any time signatures in your new project different than the time signature of the 2 bar midi file you saved? |

| How are you generating the file that is being output? Are you letting the new song play through in your DAW and recording the midi in your DAW or are you dragging the midi for the new song into your DAW without letting the song play through? Sorry for all the questions but I'm still trying to figure out your process. |

He says he creates the pattern within Jamstix and then exports it as midi file.
Maybe he must instead go to bar and save bar, before importing with groove import. |

Hi knopf_,
The way I'm reading it is that the file that is generated by Jamstix using the 2 bar file that was exported is what is "a mess". I'm trying to figure out what method is used to create the resulting messed up file. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your point. |

Hi Guys:
Again, deep thanks for your help.
Here's my process:
1. I compose a two bar sequence in jamstix which plays fine
2. I export that sequence as a midi file
3. I re-import it to jamstix
a. I click "import" on the build page
b. I click "import" under "groove" then locate the file
4. I go back to the Build page then click "create".
The resulting file sounds entirely like random hits.
Thank you! |

I think I see the problem, try this:
1. Stays the same.
2. Stays the same.
3. Build your song in the Build window with the Import style and Drummer you want to use. Use Machine if you want your 2 bar pattern unchanged.
4. Click Create.
5. Now in the Groove window, "Click to Load" in the Groove Importer in each Song Part and load your 2 bar exported midi file. |

Thanks for this info AZ, this ended up helping me out when I was trying to import a midi clip as a style.
This turns out to to an extremely powerful feature of Jamstix. I am really liking what I can do with this program!!
I have found what I think is a bug. Where do I report this? |

The Jamstix-Support forum would be the best place for that. |
