|
|
On my Surface Pro for some reason I can't remember or figure out, Jamstix 4 was no longer available in my DAW. For what ever reason, I just don't know. Anyway, I decided to do a re-install.
Well for some reason unknown to me, there was no checks by the 64 or 32 VST in the installer. So after running the installer several times and still not seeing Jamstix in my DAW, I started looking for the .dll and I could not find it anywhere.
Checked the path that the installer was suppose to put the dlls in and the paths were correct for where the dll needed to go (this was also when I figured out that I had to put a check by the box for the ones I wanted to install. Duh!). But the JamStix dll wasn't there. audioM8 dll was there. So I looked all over in other places that vst dlls go and no where in Program Files or Program Files(x86) folders did I find the Jamstix dll.
So as a last resort, I did a full computer scan (I hate Windows search) and found the dll in:
C\ProgramData\Jamstix4\bin
WT? So I copied the dll from the 64 folder and put it where I want it to go, fired up the DAW, ran a scan and now I am back in business.
Anyone has any idea what happened and how/why the Installer put the dll where it did? |

That happens sometimes and copying the version you found would have been the solution anyway. Jamstix installs those copies as backups by default.
To avoid having to deal with Windows Search in the future, I strongly recommend Everything by Void Tools. http://www.voidtools.com |

Thank you AZ. That's good to know in the future. You neve4r know when ya might need that info.
As far as Windows search, you aren't the only one that has recommended "Everything" I will have to look into that program. Thanks again |
