The rhythm I'm working on consists of 5 bars of this 7/8 pattern, but it needs to restart on the 3rd beat of the last bar. Is this possible with Jamstix? |

It would need a compound time sig with one part of 4 bars in 7/8 and then one part with a single bar in 2/8. Repeat and rinse. Alternatively, you can do 3 bars of 7/8 in the first part and one bar of 9/8 in the second part.

Yes, create two parts, set their time sigs correctly and then paste them consecutively as needed. Also, the host needs to do the time sig switches at all part changes as well. It's a bit of a pain to set up because VST time sig comms with the host are rudimentary.

Hi Carvin,
If that beat loops the way it is it would probably be in 5/4 (it almost sounds like 4/4 without context). It also sounds like it's shuffled though I'm not sure of the most straightforward way to achieve this with JS. Usually I import a style I know is shuffled (eg jazz/swing, blues) and edit from there. |

| A little more context, more bars, it would help a lot, but if I assume this is just exactly a bar, for me sounds like 5/4. |

| Thanks for the replies. I tried 5/4 and that didn't work. The closest I can get is 3/4. It loops at the right time, but the strange thing is that after the first bar, the first kick hit is off by 1 beat, meaning that it doesn't line up with the rhythm of the music. Does anyone know what is causing this? |

| It drops perfectly on a 5/4 grid for me in Reaper so that would be my guess also, assuming it is a single bar. |

5/4 isn't working for me, too many beats. Here's the guitar riff in 3/4 at 70 bpm. I figured out that I'm playing the riff slightly differently after the first bar, not sure why?
