Hi - I am trying to import a simple Midi file:

- C1 = Bass
- D1 = Snare
- D0 = Hi Hat Open 3 (open 75%)

(Notes are base on the C-2 = Note 0 format used in Cubase)

I am using SD2 - so I choose the EZdrummer import format. The Bass and Snare import fine, but the HH comes across as Shank Open (F1).

Is there a way to get a copy of the Midi import note formats? This would help me to understand how notes are being translated.

The input midi maps are located by default in: C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps\Input.

Thanks AZ - this was helpful.

I am still struggling here. I created a custom input map based on the Superior 3 map. It appears that all of my midi file Hi-Hat notes with varying degrees of openness, are imported as the Hi-Hat trigger note. It is almost as if JS is assuming that I am using CC4, so it translates all the various Hi-Hat open notes to the trigger.

I've tried turning CC4 off - no difference. I am able to take the same Mid File Hi-Hat note and map it to a tom, snare, etc. - so I believe that I am am doing this correctly.

Also - I tried using CC4 but the CC4 value JS was playing was in the high 120's - giving more of a closed sound.

As another note - when I preview the import file prior to importing it - it plays the correct 50% open Hi-Hat note / sound. Also - the CC4 value is in the 60's which would correspond to the correct setting.

Any thoughts on this?

By default the cc4 value is inverted so a larger value will "close" the hat further. There is a setting under options to reverse this behavior.

Thanks. I believe the issue I am having is related to how Midi hit hat notes are imported into JS.

I would like to import Midi Note Open HH1 to JS 25%, Open HH2 to JS 50%, etc. I can't seem to make this happen. I had this same issue with JS3 and was never able to resolve it.

Do you know if this is possible? I am able to make all of the other assignments work except the Hi-Hat notes.

Can you email me an example MID file you're trying to import?

Hi Ralph - any thoughts in this? I've been testing, and it looks as though I am able to assign Midi Import notes to everything other than HH 25%, 50%, 75%, and Open.

I'm still chewing on this. I see the #26 note routed to Hihat 75% Open per the EZDrummer 2 mapping but it shows up as closed HH in the bars itself. Will let you know as soon as I figure out why.
