Not sure I am understanding how to use this function properly.
Can anyone do a little walkthrough on how to set this up and get the best out of this? |

Simplest scenario
You want to have a different kick and snare during the verses. Maybe lighter sounds or maybe electronic sounds. Add the desired sounds as 2nd snare and kick to the kit. Now double-click on the verse part in the song sheet and check the 'Use 2nd Kick and Snare' box. If you use linked parts you're done. Otherwise, do the same for any other part where you want the switch.
Complex scenarios
Add the desired second kick and snare to the kit. Now you can either place notes for them in the bar editor where you want or you can use redirection in the brain or you can use the 'Add' sub-menu of the brain menu to load 'Second Kick' or 'Second Snare' to tell the brain when you want them used.
Stacking
That's when you just want to fatten the sound of the snare and/or kick. Use the 'MIDI Key & Linkage Editor' in the kit menu to link the second snare and/or kick to the first. If you don't want this to happen in all parts, use the 'Suppress Sound Linkage' box in the part editor for those parts. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Right... Have been experimenting and attempting to answer my own question..
Here is how it works as far as I understand it.
Step 1. Load a kit from kit tab..
Step 2. Still in the kit tab. Right click on empty space (not on a kit piece) and choose add to kit.
Step 3. Choose what you want to add and add it.. If say you added Kick 2, run down the kick choices and choose the one you want to use.
Repeat Step 2 and this time choose a snare and add it. Both will now appear in your kit and can be treated like any other kit piece. (tuned etc)
Using 2nd Kicks and Snares..
1. Create your song in the build tab. The song parts list will appear on the left of the screen.
2. Make sure "Part" is selected on the song sheet list NOT "Drummer " or "Style".
3. Double click on whatever part you wish to use the 2nd kick and snare on. From the drop down list, check the use 2nd Kick and Snare box.. Now whatever part you have chosen, will use the 2nd kick and snare when it plays.
You could use it on every chorus and have a different snare and kick sound used in those parts to add variety to your sound for example.
Addition.. I had posted this before I realised Ralph had answered above. Lol I was just going off to try and figure out what suppress sound linkage did but Ralph has done that above.
You can get really interesting effects by choosing a completely different sounding kick and snare such as from the e-kit if you want wildly different choruses and verses. |
