Seeing a post from Doc of the Line 6 Users Group in Germany makes me wonder how many other Line 6 users we have in this community. I'm a total Line 6 junkie. I've currently got PODxt, BODxt, Shortboard, Variax 500, Variax Bass 700, and have my eye on a TonePort UX2. Most of this gear (and Jamstix) will be heard when I post the song I'm currently recording. Should be done in a month or two.
I am also known as Malhavok in the Line 6 community where older members may remember I had a huge patch site for the original bean with almost two thousand patches for download. |

Hi there, I remember your patch site, been using line 6 gear since pod first came out, still got it but use my flextone for direct recording now, also guitar rigs good for getting a unprocessed tone to disc then tweaking it later. Great product is jamstix saves so much time with the drumming chores, certainly puts groove agent to shame.
See you around |

As if
Hate the L6 "sound" or not is your opinion I guess. But no one has ever listened to a track of mine and remarked, "boy, that sounds like Line 6!" Use whatever gear you want to get the sound you like for your playing. One thing will always be certain though, most other people will like something other than you. Which of course is why we have hundreds, if not thousands, of amps and tonemaking devices to choose from, instead of just one.
Either way, Jamstix has put my Groove Agent in the "will never use again" file. |

Well, I agree, us guitarists are VERY fussy about tone....
What I am saying is Line6 emulation of real Amps is simply not up to par. Even GR is not 100% but it is the closest out of all of them to MY ears. And yes, I've listened to them ALL!!!! (I've even ported Tim Goetze's unique amp emulation to VST if you are interested).... Trust me, finding the ultimate amp emulation has been my holy grail for decades... The goal, a virtual band that actually sounds real
That is why I love Jamstix.... Just another step in that direction.

| I´ve got a PODxt Live, Bass PODxt and Variax 500 (no Variax Bass YET!), and I must say this is what I´ve been dreaming for some years. I´ve seldom played with great tube amps, I´m a homestudio-simulators guy, and had some of them (POD v1 - very first I had, Boss GT-6 / GT-5, Zoom 505, Roland VG-88, V-Amp 2, Bass V-Amp, Johhson J-Station, Sansamp GT2/ Bass Driver, Digitech RP300, maybe some more I don´t remember) and ended up with Line6 again. Yes, I´ve heard guitar rig and amplitube recordings (both versions 2 look very promising though), and I don´t find easy to get a good tone right out of the box with Line6 stuff (except with the POD v1), you gotta tweak a lot to find yours, but then Variax-PODxt combination gives you so many possibilities I don´t think I´ll be messing with other simulators soon. Anyway it´s a matter of taste in the end, but I find it hard to get more versatile rig for home recorders like me than Line6 (+ Jamstix now) and there are some 20-years-guitar-playing-guys I know who can´t get nice recorded tones like I do now. |

I know what you mean. I've got some serious amounts of gear around here. I've even got a Mesa Boogie TriAxis that "collects dust" because I find myself running to the PODxt consistently. Every one of my nineteen guitars sound great through it too! I'll be posting up a tonefest with Jamstix and a plethora of Line 6 gear soon |

Let the tone wars begin http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/guruone/
hehe
This riff was made using midi triggered samples + GuitarSuite + Guitar Rig 1
Almost the holy grail...... With GR2..... Watch out!!!
ps. Ya reckon your "slick" Line6 stuff could do this? hehe |

Sorry Guruone but I don't get it.
Dont get me wrong but your short sample does not sound as good as a good podxt tone would by far, in my ears. I think, and I allso tried them all, that right now nothing comes even close to what a podxt can do.

Howdy my man! I´m moderating the German line 6 forum.
Despite some other opinions here, NOTHING comes even close to what Line 6 is doing concerning amp and guitar modeling. Line 6 is always 1 step ahead, for sure.
No company I know of has such a devotion concerning their stuff and is so passionate about it, Ralph and Rayzoon excluded maybe.
My L6 gear:
Vetta II, Pod XT Live, Guitarport, Variax 700, Variax 700 Acoustic, Variax 500, Toneport UX-2 on the way.
Unfortunately I´ve been very busy lately, but I hope to get to record a new song cycle I´ve written in the coming weeks and months.
Hey ho let´s go then.
@ Guru: This doesn´t convince me either. |

Looks like we need a rule here.... some order to these random claims...
Rule 1: If you are gunna defend your tone be prepared to stick it up here
Rule 2: Don't reply if you don't meet rule 1
Rule 3 (optional): All non-guitarists please ignore this thread LOL |

I know this is all friendly banter but since I don't want this to become the first-ever Rayzoon thread to derail, let me state that:
a) Line6 stuff is cool
b) Guitar Rig is cool
If you disagree with a or b, please discuss that in the forums of the respective manufacturer.
Thanks guys! _________________ Ralph Zeuner
