Hi everyone
Been a huge fan of JS since JS1 and will be obviously buying JS4 which sounds fantastic. Just one question.
I have not yet saved all my JS3 songs as J2d files and was wondering what will happen when I install JS4? Will I be able to open up my songs In Ableton Live as normal using JS3 , save the JS3 arrangement as J2d file and then reload having replaced JS3 with JS4?
OR should I save all the JS3 songs BEFORE installing JS4.
Also if the 2 versions can coexist then what happens to all the sounds, players, drumkits etc Will there be 2 instances of them or not???

The main reason for asking is when I upgraded from JS1 to JS2 and then to JS3 I failed to considered these questions and have had to recreate lots of drum patterns and arrangements for JS3 as this seemed the easiest alternative to having JS1, JS2 and JS3 all installed on new computers and availble in Ableton

JS4 is really a separate plug-in from JS3. I still have both installed on my system. I have gone through some of my projects, which use JS3, and have been saving some of the Jamstix3 song files to the data\song folder. Then, I create an instance of Jamstix 4 in the project and load the song (saved with JS3). Then, I basically mute the JS3 and check out the JS4. I have had very good success so far doing this. The kit, song, mixer settings, etc., seem to be loading up without any problem. Of course, I think JS4 sounds better, so I have been experimenting with some of the new JS4 kits.
The bottom line, though, is that I would say they are compatible and can both be present simultaneously. You really don't need to save any songs before hand because JS4 doesn't change anything in JS3. Then, you can take your time converting the JS3 projects to JS4 if you want to.
