Hello! I've started using Jamstix 3 in drum module mode for late night practice using my Alesis DM8 drum module. Everything works great except for the hi-hat. My findings are that:

1. "Note only" on my DM8 works fine, but eliminates all of the half-open/closed sounds, which is not ideal.
2. "Use TD-20 extensions" makes all possible sounds available, but it reverses open and closed on my Alesis foot controller.
3. While it seems that "reverse hihat controller" in Jamstix settings should do the trick when using TD-20 extensions, it doesn't. Things behave strangely with this setting toggled.

My guess is that there is a way to properly map the Alesis DM8 CC values to match Jamstix, but I don't know how at this time. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? I don't want to have to buy a new drum module, but will if I can't get things to work right. It's that important to me.

Once the waves from the JS4 release settle down, I'll look into enabling the HH reversal option for the MIDI input translator.

I figured out how to make things work with my Alesis DM8 module, so it luckily looks like I won't need to buy a new one (at least for hi-hat reasons). The following method got my hi-hat working and sounding great, and I'm a fairly particular drummer. This method should work for any drum module with a continuous hi-hat pedal:

1. In Drum Module Mode, click on the hi-hat in the virtual drum kit.
2. Under where it says "Articulation" on the channel strip underneath, switch the selection from from "All" to the next option, "Closed."
3. Under "Key," it most likely says Bb2. Click on it, and with your hi-hat pedal closed, strike the hi-hat pad on your e-drums. It will automatically select the correct midi note. Click "Assign" and move on to the next "Articulation", which will be 25%.
4. Repeat #s 1 and 2, releasing your e-drum hi-hat pedal to the correct position to determine proper midi note assignments for articulations 25%, 50%, 75%, and open.
5. Once you have gone through this process for each articulation, save the session in your DAW or save the drum kit in Jamstix so that you will not have to repeatedly go through this process every time you want to drum.

I hope this helps any e-drummers out there that experience the same hi-hat issues that I did. The great thing about Jamstix is that midi note assignments are completely configurable. This is not true for other VST drum modules, such as EZDrummer.
