I thought VST was for PC and AU for Mac. How come there are both VSTi and AU in my OS X version of Jamstix and which do I use? Thanks.

I don't know anything regarding using a Mac so take this for what it's worth but there are VST Mac plugins and they are different than the PC versions. When you would use a VST vs. AU plugin on Mac, that's for someone else to answer.

Yeah, I found that some VSTs work with both. so do I choose AUi or VSTi Jamstix in Reaper?
