Ralph, the more I use JS the more amazed I am. In fact, it's addictive (another one to add to the list !!) as there's so much to explore.
One thing which would be very helpful: could you explain what decisions JS is making when creating an arrangement - i.e. what gets "locked" into the the arrangement during Free Jam or Keyword Jam - and what decisions are made when playing the arrangement back in Manual Jam mode.
When you switch to Manual Jam, it appears that many of the controls disappear but some of them remain active (e.g. the Complexity and Funkiness sliders) during playback and can still be modified. Also, JS remains sensitive to velocity during playback so clearly there are two levels of "decision making" going on.
Hope this isn't a stupid question but it would help greatly to know what gets "committed" during the Free/Keyword Jam and what can influenced afterwards.
One final thing, I have been doing some balads and have had to set everything (complexity, funkiness, velocity sensitivity etc.) right down to avoid an overly enthusiastic drummer. Might it be possible to add an additional "Character" option - something like "Balad" or "Gentle" to compliment the "Normal", "Agressive" and "Latinize" options? Something which would allow JS some freedom but in a restrained sort of way? Perhaps this is achieveable now but I just haven't goet the settings right.
Many thanks and keep up the fantastic development.

When a bar is free-jammed, a pattern is created or assigned. Within that pattern are decisions to be made such as probable notes and accents. Those decision are recorded within Jamstix.
If this bar is now played back in manual mode, all decisions are remembered so it's sounds like it did during free jam mode. However, velocity, timing and other jam tab functions still apply to the output.
A change of the complexity and funkiness sliders will alter the filters for accent files (accents, fills, intros etc.). If you do this and a bar calls for an accent that does not fit the new filter anymore, a new one will automatically be selected.

If you need to fully lock down the results of a free jam, use the 'Bar Locking' in the arranger.

Good idea. For now, please try to just set accentuation to zero and complexity fairly low. See how this works for you. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
