|

| In Jamstix 4 there will be this Tap2Find thing, right? I need it now or at least very soon. So, can you tell us when Jamstix 4 will be released? We're waiting for years now I think. Can you give us a sign: a week, a month, a year? Will it be worth waiting or have I to change to EZDrummer to get the Tap2Find? Thanks for an open and honest answer. |

'Tap2Find' in EZDrummer is just a way to filter pre-made MIDI clips. We are working on a feature to build rhythms around a 'tapped' construct. I can't tell you when this will be released.
I cannot give a release date on JS4 as we are still working some issues but it's definitely this year. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Thanks for your reply. Will this tapping feature be in the first release of Jamstix 4 or in a later version? |

It won't be in the initial JS4 release. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hello Ralph, any progress in this area?
I have moved from a guitar pedalboard to PC (VST, VSTi) and there is only one thing which I really really miss in a digital world: creative drum machine like Digitech SDRUM pedal. Incredibly powerfull piece of hardware, not just Tap2Find but rather Tap2Create device. I have tried EZD2 Tap2Find and like their way how to quickly create a groove by tapping to 3D drums (or using MIDI keyb) but don't like a second part with just using of prepared MIDI loops. Much better way IMHO is to preserve what you have created and offer some additions (cymbals,hihats,toms,..). What I have learned from YT videos is that this is a domain where the Jamstix with a Brain functionality excels and blows away all competitors.
So I still hope for something similar what you have mentioned 3 years ago above. I have checked a manual and couple videos of Jamstix 4 but didn't find any option how to make a kick&snare loop by tapping on the fly and let the Jamstix to do the rest of "magic".
I'm looking forward to your positive reply |

Features in that area are in development but I can't give you a beta or release schedule at this time. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm new to Jamstix, and loving it so far! Despite a lot of questions about how Jamstix works exactly, I do have a simple idea:
Tap your beat in your DAW, and record the midi. You may be able to put it on a loop, and record successive passes. Then save
the midi pattern to a folder on your hard drive, and import it into Jamstix.
Maybe not quite as quick and easy as EZ Drummer tap2find, but still not hard. And likely way more rewarding!
I'm going to try this myself, but if you try it too, please stop back and share your experience. |

Thank you!
Please also try the 'MIDI Learn' feature in Jamstix which you can use as follows:
- check the MIDI icon in the bar editor (left side below AUTO BAR) to activate learn mode
- start play in your DAW and play the drums as desired on your MIDI keyboard
- you will see the notes being translated and quantized into the Jamstix bar editor
Make sure you have MIDI input from the keyboard active on the Jamstix track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I just tried the MIDI Learn function.... works perfectly! The only limit is my bad timing on an inexpensive midi keyboard.
This is actually above and beyond Tap to Find, really. You get what you originally tapped in, and instead of a list of static
patterns, you get all of the abilities of Jamstix to transform your original beat any way you want.
* Suggestion for Rayzoon: Market this function as being above and beyond Tap to Find, because it is.
** I have used Tap 2 Find in EZ Drummer, and it's pretty good, honestly. But man, Jamstix tops it! |

Hi Ralph,
Have you considered adding a MIDI control parameter to MIDI learn? So you could trigger from a MIDI CC, PC etc. It's such an amazing feature already but this would be a godsend!!
Thanks |

Do you mean the ability to start/end MIDI learn via a CC or PC? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes exactly!
This would make my drum composition process much more fluid.
While I'm at it could I request MIDI control for the Half-time button? Again a very useful feature that would be handy to have more control over. |
