Can anyone advise how I can get JS3 to play within Sonar Platinum WITHOUT having to record?

Pressing the play in the Sonar transport plays the first beat in JS3 and then nothing, it just stops. However if record is set to on, then JS3 plays as normal, but I don't want to actually record anything Evil or Very Mad

Create a short empty clip and drag it to some point into timeline. Sonar won't play if the timeline is empty.

For such an impressive program it has some odd quirks haha! (Sonar, not JS that is)
