Ok, after spending quite a bit of time messing around with Logic, I decided to go back to DP8. Mind you I haven't used JS in quite a while, but anyway, I can't get Jamstix to work right at all in DP. When I hit stop it keeps playing a bar or two of stuff and then makes some kind of nasty dumping of midi notes (to SSD4), and so forth. Hitting play and stop repeatedly gets all kinds of weirdness. But wierdness goes away when the GUI is open, then it seems to work correctly. Gui closed and wierd. Gui open consumes quite a lot more CPU though.
Hmm.
Also I got lots of wierd results when I was trying to record the midi tracks by simply record arming a midi track and taking the input from the VST midi output of JS. The timing does not match what I get when I drag and drop the parts, so...I don't know..something is amiss for sure.
Honestly tempted to just go back to using my wine version. |

ok, I think the problem here is midi feedback loop issue because of the IAC port, which we dont need to use in DP anyway, but that midi data is getting looped back into DP again and causing the mischeive.
The solution is to make sure there is a midi track assigned to to the input of Jamstix track. This should be some midi port which is not in use (unless you need to control Jamstix with midi that is). That essentially blocks the Jamstix IAC from looping back into Jamstix again..though it will probably get picked up eventually by another track..so the better solution if you're gonna use DP a lot is to remove the JAMSTIX IAC port from the Apple Audio Midi utility.
That breaks Logic though, if you happen to use both.
Anyway, problem solved. |
