I need some suggestions for managing my JamStix setup. I'm trying to make music where there is a set song structure sometimes, a free portion in almost every tune (I'm doing looping improvisation) and an easy way for me to manage JamStix with MIDI.

As an example, lets say I have a tune where I start out with

VBCVBCVBC followed by an extended jamming portion with several flavors of drums to select from with MIDI commands.

Any ideas for this? I have been using the LIVELOOPING setting a bit, but the live looping feature has some issues that I can't seem to get sorted out. LiveLooping almost feels like it's not ready yet. If there is a way to not use the live looping feature, but move the song structure with MIDI, I think I would prefer that workflow.

Anyone have any ideas? So far I'm loving JamStix, just need to figure out a solid workflow that works for me, while avoiding the parts of the software that don't feel ready for prime-time.

I'm using Ableton Live (which is the best workflow for live performance I have ever used!) so anything you can do automation with MIDI I can easily create a clip and trigger with a controller.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
