I'm working on a song that needs a very tight ending. The ending Jamstix created is almost perfect, but the decay on the crash at the end is going on way too long. Is there a way to kill the decay on the crash? I tried setting the hit to "choke" but that mutes the initial strike. I need something more in line with grabbing the cymbal after to kill the decay. Does anyone know if this is possible to do in the Jamstix editor? I'm using Jamstix routed into Addictive Drums, btw. Thanks.

Place the choke on the opposite hand after the cymbal hit. Left click the Choke to select it then right click it and move it to taste via the "Timing" choices in the drop down menu.

EDIT: I just saw the part regarding AD. I don't have AD so you might have to play around with the midi mapping to make this work properly but it should work otherwise.

Wow thanks! That worked like a charm. I had tried adding a choke on the next beat before, but I wasn't taking into consideration the realistic arm movement and had put it on the same hand that did the hit, which doesn't make sense now that I think about it. Thanks.

Yeah, the things that can be done with JS never cease to amaze me. If Jambassist turns out half as good, I'll die a happy man.

Can you do this choke cymbal thing with jamstix alone..?
If you can.
Can someone explain this for dummies?
I didn't understand this explanation properly.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks a lot a _zimuth.. That's brilliant..
I have been using Jamstix in drum module mode but now I am experimenting with actually editing in Jamstix itself. It is an amazing program but I think, sometimes its ability to do such complicated things, makes you miss some of the simple things.
I will probably be back with another question shortly. Its something else I think my aging brain cells is misunderstanding Lol

I'll be glad to help if I can Andy. JS is truly amazing and sometimes truly baffling.
