I can't seem to get Jamstix to drive a snare (live) in my MOXf keyboard, via Cubase AI7 host. I created a Jamstix instrument track from the instrument rack in Cubase and loaded a Jamstix kit with GM assignments. MIDI out is checked in Jamstix, and "MIDI out only" is assigned for the snare, with a GM note number for snare center (D1), which I know is also used in the MOFx.
I created a new MIDI track in Cubase and set its input to the Jamstix output; MIDI output is set to MOXf, of course. I clicked the monitor button and can see MIDI activity on playback of a sequence on the Jamstix track (or when clicking the snare in the kit), but there is no sound. If I record on that MIDI track, it plays back the MOXf drums, but it's the entire kit, not the isolated snare. So there are actually two problems, 1) getting live monitoring of the sound, and 2) getting just the snare.
Thanks for a great product, by the way! |

Not sure about issue #1, sounds like a Cubase issue as the MIDI from JS definitely arrives at the track. Concerning #2: MIDI OUT ONLY on a kit element just means that no internal sound is played in JS for that element. If you want to suppress MIDI output for all internal sounds, please check 'No MIDI output for internal sounds' in the kit menu of JS. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

There is a "MIDI thru active" option in the Cubase preferences. Check that, as it sounds like a possible culprit for issue #1. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. Scarlett 2i2. M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Komplete 8. Jamstix 3.6. Absolute 3 VST. 418 Carrier Landings.

Using Ralph's suggested settings plus jas_lan's "MIDI Thru Active" did the trick.
Thank you!!! |
