There was a simple slider or knob (like the dynamics knob that reduces or increases said dynamics) that increased or decreased the ''busy-ness''
of the drumer (this would be writable of course)..
I know this is all possible in the miriad of controls available but with me being a computer idiot I just end up losing it (my mind that is)

just a slider in a specialy created ''simple section for idiots like me''

I would then happily increase the slider during the chorus or slightly more in the M8, then back down for the chorus, combined with the dynamics knob this woukld be awesome..

is this poss, can we have it in version 4 please ?

best to all, Kevin

Use 'Extract From Other Player' and add 'Simplifier' from 'Charlie' to your part.

That's what I'm talking about Ralph, to me what you've suggested is a complicated procedure during which I can screw things up,

A slider...busy drummer, less busy drummer would be awesome, just like the dynamics knob...
JS is just way too clever for me and has controls I am never gonna go to..
not your fault..my fault, this is the best drum software out there, it's also the most difficult to use..
I have a couple of muso friends who just can't deal with JS, which is a pity because your losing customers..
which makes me wonder, is there a show and tell on youtube..I;ll take a look after this post..

we, or I for sure need an in depth hour long video of the latest version slowly going through everything it can do..

regards, Kevin

Open the brain menu - the little orange triangle beneath the song tab.

Thank you very much for the info on that..never knew about it, it's gonna be extremely useful, Smile
it's impossible to say this with seeming pedantic but it took me 5 clicks to do it,
is there actually a one click method, I would be very grateful if you could make me aware of it please,
once the simplifier is there then it becomes a ''one click '' solution, maybe that's what you meant, my apologies if you did mean this.
I would love an in depth ''for idiots like me'' video which goes into detail with all this stuff, I just treid to use the simplifier and I'm afraid the drummer played excectly the same hits, this is clearly down to me I'm sure, but like I said, this is a complicated piece of software, it's a case of ''can't live with it,can't live without it''
I'm often afraid to use it to it's full potential for fear of screwing up what I've allready done..whuch I invariably do..

thanks, Kevin

and don't worry about breaking anything. In fact have a session where you try to break something!

edit

don't take an axe to your laptop, obviously.

If I can get this Charlie Simplifier Slider technique to work, I will be SO happy. The drummers all seem way too caffeinated for me, except for Charlie, so I'm excited that I will be able to add some more interesting parts without straying into "Animal" territory all the time (OK, I'm exaggerating, a bit there!).

The topic of JS complexity was addressed in this thread as well. For me, 99.999% of the value of JS is the "non-static" nature of the drumming, i.e., variations that make it sound non-loopy. I would be extremely satisfied with an "Auto-play" option when JS opens, one with minimal under-the-hood tinkering required to optimize the sound. If I want to go into the details, I could activate the current JS option.

I think one of the hardest parts for me in JS is that it seems that the solutions to problems aren't obtainable without the kindness of the more experienced JS drummers who post them on this forum. The manual isn't set up for troubleshooting help very much IMO, and I would have no idea to do something like, "Go to here, copy the style/groove from that drummer/style into yours, then modify", unless someone told me (the "Copy the Simplify slider from Charlie" advice above being a typical example). It's like JS is at its best only for very experienced users ... newbies and more occasional users might tend to flounder, at least more than in other software programs I have used.

I'm committed to Jamstix, and I talk it up whenever I can. I just hope it gets easier to use!

I moved it every which way is possible...

A global simplifier or make more complicated slider is the dream..

I'm not just looking to simplify, it's easier to just install Charlie than to get to the simplifier slider...

Maybe it's time for us (or Ralph) to build/enable a Wiki so all our collective knowledge is easily available !

Forum is great and we all know Ralph (and its 11 900 messages) delivers 5 stars support here so we should give back, don't you think ?

With respect and sincerity, hasn't this been done and named, "the operation manual"?
