I use both Pro Tools (11) and Logic Pro X. I was able to route the Jamsitx midi out to BFD in pro tools and it works perfect. I'm not seeing how do this routing in Logic. I don't see how to specify where the Jamsitx output goes or how to set BFD's MIDI input.

Logic Pro X does not support MIDI output for plugins. You'll have to use IAC driver to do this as shown here:

For Logic/Mainstage, what would be most ideal would be if Jamstix also came in AU/MFX form. I have looked into this a little bit and it requires only a very small change in code to compile an AU as AU-MFX. I can get you the info I know if you are interested in pursuing this Ralph. Several arpeggiators on the market that are AU are now shipped in both AU and AUMFX format with really just one line of code to compile the new way...and then your code has to be doing what it needs to do to shovel the midi data to the midi output.

What is the advantage of this? Mainly in Logic and Mainstage we could then put Jamstix into a MIDIFx slot and the midi would then be routed, with correct sync...directly to a drum software instrument of our choice. The disadvantage of this is that while in this mode, the internal sounds of Jamstix could not be used. But this would avoid IAC and any concerns about timing.

Just a thought..

PITA that apple won't properly support midi out from AU's or support VST's either for that matter.
