I've been trying to install the 3.6.0 update but am having a hard time. I really messed things up on the first attempt by having forgotten my original installation path. I finally got that mess cleaned up and 3.5 working properly again. But whenever I try installing V3.6.0, it appears to install everything properly, but when I try creating an instance in my host (Samplitude ProX, 32-bit running on WinXP SP2) I get an error message that it "Failed to create VST instrument".
I was fortunate that I worked around it this time by simply re-installing version 3.5 over the new version. But I'd really like to get this sorted out. Could this have something to do with the fact I still have to use XP?
Thanks for any suggestions. |

| JS 3.6 is a 64 bit and needs a 64 bit OS and Host. |

That's incorrect jazzmandan, I'm running 3.6 in both 32 & 64 bit Windows 7.
tl_webb you probably still have leftovers from the older version interfering with 3.6 running properly. I can't help you with Samplitude but there a users running JS in XP successfully. I would send support@rayzoon.com your rzdlog.txt file.

Right you are, there is both a 32 and 64 bit version. Just don't get them mixed up. But no one will do that |

In the middle of all this I've been tied up with events relating the 4th of July weekend. But last night when I got home from the parade, I saw Ralph's post and indeed the 2010Redistributal package resolved the failure to start issue.
Now though, I've got a different problem which I initially even mis-characterized. The "symptom" is that very soon after initiating a "Normal Jam" song, all the hits start echoing multiple times. What I've just noticed as I try to narrow down the real problem is that at some point, either right after starting or within a few bars, I start getting a continuous stream of lost ASIO buffers (hence, the "echos"). If I simply re-install 3.5, all plays well. Re-load 3.6, boom.
Perhaps I'll try another completely clean install of 3.6, as your point of possibly having some 3.5 component still around may be perfectly valid. Thanks for the thoughtful hints.
EDIT: Well that didn't work out any better. I also tried only using a single stereo output, disabling midi output to the host, and not sending midi input to the plug. I've given up for now and gone back to 3.5 for now. It seems I may be the only one with this problem, so I suspect it has to with only being on XP-SP2, and I can't go to Win7 or 8 because of my external legacy audio hardware and the simple fact I can't afford to buy and equip a whole new workstation/setup equivalent to the old one right now. I spent a lot of time optimizing the computer and OS around my audio hardware, and don't even normally have that computer connected to my LAN, much less the internet, so at least it's safe at this point. Time will tell of other issues/updates to the software I use force me to either change or quit. We'll see how that works out. |
