|
|
When I import a MIDI pattern that has a specific kick/snare/cymbal pattern, and I pick a drummer to interpret it, it totally trashes the pattern.
I don't want it to change the character of the part, just humanize it. If I put a kick or a snare on a certain beat, I want it there, that's why I imported a style. Adding fills is fine, or "embellishing" the original pattern SLIGHTLY, but I want it recognizable.
You know, like showing a real drummer a specific pattern, then saying "Play that, but mix it up just a little bit."
What am I doing wrong?
For the record, here's what I did.
First I composed the song using "Machine" as the drummer, and disabled all fills. I cleared all notes and clicked in specifically what I wanted.
Once I liked the basic beat, I exported each unique part to MIDI.
Then I went back to each part, changed style to Import, and imported the MIDI, using "Use current kit mapping."
When I pick any drummer, and recompose the part, it totally changes the character of my beat. |

If I use "preview" when importing the MIDI, and "Use Current Kit Mapping," the preview sounds EXACTLY like it did when I composed it, but once I import it, it sounds different, even if I don't pick any drummer at all.
Is there a way to attach I file to a post? I don't see one. But here's a link to one of my patterns.

Use the BonzoPak Gated kit. Import the pattern, choose "Use current kit mapping," and preview it. Then finish import and play. It's changed the hihat pattern. |
