This is probably a newbie question, but here it is:
I want to use Groove Agent As a drum VI and JS3 to generate the Midi for it. I know how to change key mapping in either one.
1) Do people usually change the key map in JS or GA?
2) GA has, e.g., a HiHat sound, sometimes even open and closed. But JS uses several partially open and closed expressions of HiHat. How do you deal with this? Do you need to tell JS not to use sounds unavailable in GA and live with the loss of expressability and variation?
Thanks, -- Chris. |

Hi Chris,
I don't use GA but that shouldn't matter here.
1) I usually change the mapping in the program generating the midi data (JS in this case) but that is only due to habit and either way works just as well.
2) If there are more variations that can be generated vs. played than you can either just not map the extra notes or map multiple notes to the same samples. either way, you are losing some resolution and that really is unavoidable in such a situation. |

Thanks, I thought so, too, but fell better now, knowing that I didn't overlook something.
Thanks again for the help, -- Chris. |
