I've been a long time user of Jamstix, but only today tried jamming in liveloop mode, and I got a few questions. I'm sure i'm missing something obvious, but here goes:
First of all, when i turn on liveloop mode, i can switch between parts no problem, but only the first repetition is looped. Can a part be looped all the way? Like, if a part has 4 bars and 4 repetitions, for each loop all 4 repetitions are played as opposed to only the first one? (turning auto-advance on and off every 16 bars isn't quite what i'd like to do while jamming )
Second of all, can i recompose parts every time i loop? Let's say i got a 4 bar pattern with 1 repetition. If i keep playing the same bar with the same accents and the same ending fill over and over again, it gets old pretty fast. I can trigger recompose manually, but triggering recompose every 4 bars gets tiresome pretty quickly as well (never mind it won't allow me to concentrate on my playing). This is not to mention that sometimes triggered recompose results in skipped notes, so i would like to avoid manually triggering recompose as much as possible. So, is there an option to constantly recompose?
Next question i have is about fills. If i manually trigger a fill (free form or groove), it works as it should, but then the part loses its fill and always endlessly plays the groove until i trigger a fill again (despite there being R and T fills enabled in the GUI). Can it work both ways? I.e. being able to spontaneously play a fill, but also keep all the repetition/ending fills?
Another question about fills is, can i play repetition fills if i'm not advancing to another part, and play transition fill if i am about to advance to another part?
Also, is there a way to start playback unlinked from the host? I know there's the "unlink" button but i couldn't find any "start" or "stop" buttons.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
sorry, using Jamstix 3.5.1 beta. |
