I was hoping someone could provide the steps required to setup a simple instance of Jamstix 3.5 to play Sonar X3d Addictive Drums.

I have tried just about everything I could think of.

Thanks,

Ardjunc

Create a MIDI track in SONAR with input=Jamstix and output=AD and enable monitoring on the track. Make sure to use an AD kit in JS to have correct MIDI key assignments for AD.

Thanks Ralph,

Works like a charm. I have a few questions I hope you can answer:

What is the purpose of using a bridging midi track rather than connecting both programs directly?

It looks like JS defaults midi output to channel 1, should the input of the bridging midi track be set to the same channel or omni.

Is it possible to instruments from both programs together? Say basic drums from AD and jamcussion instruments from JS?

Regards,

Ardjunc

IIRC, SONAR does not automatically route MIDI output from plugins to other MIDI ports.

Yes, just use a AD kit plus Jamcussion kit in Jamstix. The drum notes will go via MIDI to AD and the Jamcussion notes will play in JS.

Ralph suggests using a JS kit + the AD Miri map kit. I can't seem to find the topic on combining kits.

Can someone explain how to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Ardjunc

Do you want to cobmine AD and JS drum sounds or AD drum and Jamcussion?

I am using JS to play AD by selecting the AD drum kit (mapping) in JS and midi out. I would like to be able to also use some of the JS sounds as well. Probably not an entire kit, but say perhaps some percussion instruments.

I have AD outputting to mono tracks for control of each drum.

Try this: in the setup you are describing, go to the kit editor and select a JS3 sound for the kick instead of MIDI OUT. Make sure 'No MIDI Output For Internal Sounds' is checked in the kit menu. You should now hear AD kit plus JS3 kick.
