| I have this weird problem in Live 5.01. I use Jamstix with MIDI-out only, letting it send its data to Battery 2. It only sends the note C-2 though for every hit, which of course leads to Battery making no sound whatsoever. |

Confirmed here - I am working around this by opening Jamstix and Battery(or DR008 etc) in eXT (as a VSTi inside Live 5.01) and loading the complete enchilada into a Live 5 track.
eXT (www.xt-hq.com) is great in this context as you can load up Jamstix, your drum sampler, effects etc and then simply connect them any way you want by dragging lines between them. The output will then stream into just one Live 5 track, saving heaps of screen space (and works flawlessly)
The fact that this works leads to the conclusion that Ableton haven't quite implemented the VSTi midi out functionality correctly at this stage. Knowing those guys (and Ralph of course) I'm sure that these issues will be fixed soon.
Hope this helps!
Cheers

It does sound a bit like a VSTi MIDI-Out issue in Live 5. We'll look into it next week. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Has this been resolved? I get no output from Jamstix in Live using the "lite" demo (downloaded latest version which doesn't crash Live).
I try to route the MIDI output from one track to another but there is no response on any of the track meters.

We've contacted Ableton on this.
Please note that the Jamstix demo seizes MIDI output after bars 1 through 4. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It means the demo has the output of MIDI events limited to bars 1,2,3 and 4 in your host
However, if you load Battery 2 into the Jamstix demo via the mapping tab, you won't have this limitation and also no routing issues in Live or other hosts. Have you tried that? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I was going to but now Live crashed and froze my system again in the instant I loaded Jamstix. There is really something fishy about Jamstix and Live. It worked perfectly in FLS though.
I'll wait until Live stops eating all my CPU power so I can close it, then I'll try again. |

Turned off "Auto open plugin window" or whatever and now it loaded perfectly.
I opened Battery 2 as you suggested and it does indeed work very well. I routed the audio from the MIDI track to Audio track 1 and am able to record the drums as well. Seems to work very well. |
