They do the same thing but 'Save...' also creates a style file that can be selected in the song builder. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Don't you mean "Save as style preset" for song builder?
I'm still a little confused about this.
I load an import style with a midi file.
I can then either:
Save as Style preset then it shows up in the Style drop down for Style import, and lets me select it in song builder for import style (confusion over duplicate use of style?)
Turn groove into style, which seems to always overwrite a style called Bar Groove selected as a Jamstix 2 groove under import
Save Groove as style, which saves as a .jsx file in the Styles folder
Save Bar which saves as a groove .j2d file in the grooves folder and can be loaded as a groove
So it is a little confusing, with multiple use of Style and different groove and style folders.
I think the manual needs a small section right at the beginning that clearly explains all these and how they inter-relate and the different use cases.
For example: elaborate a little more on what you said in another post:

No, there are no MIDI files. A better simplistic view would be:
STYLE=rules to build groove, fills and basic accents
PLAYER= rules to modify groove, add accents and modify fill behavior, apply timing and power variations

How do I delete a style preset?
I have some I created as tests but don't want them anymore/
Where do I delete them from?
I can't find them anywhere in the Jamstix3/data directory
Saved styles (.jsx) are in styles folder and saved bars (as .j2d groove?) are in /Groove folder but where are the style presets?
Edit: I see, in the Style folder as .pre files. |

Correct, it's the PRE files. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
