I'm just contemplating on purchasing Jamstix, but obviously the mac version isnt out yet and I was thinking of installing how it provided on the forums here.

Once installed, will it work with Reaper and can I use Jamstix to trigger another drum VST (i.e Steven Slate drums)? like normal?

you can definitely install the JamstixWine bundle in demo mode and try it out.

Note that the JamstixWine package does not work with the latest 3.5 jamstix.

Reaper is inside Wine. Yes you can use it to trigger SSD. There are two ways you could potentially do it.

1 - You install SSD into the wine package and then its all inside Reaper there and should work normally. however, not all software runs on Wine, so I can't vouch for whether SSD could be made to work there. Sometimes that can be a bit of an adventure.

2 - (RECCOMENDED), you use IAC to send midi from Reaper to your OSX DAW. Then yes SSD sits in your OSX DAW. I actually made a tutorial for this on another thread. If you really want to get tricky you can have your OSX DAW slave via midi clock to reaper, etc, but I have found the best way to work on drums is to work out the parts in reaper, sending the midi to your DAW for SSD sounds. When its all done, export the midi tracks from reaper and import those midi files into your DAW.

anyway there are a few different ways of doing it, using JackOSX and IAC between Reaper-under-wine, and your OSX daw.
