Hey Ralph!
I'm trying to create an opening part for a song that is similar to an intro. This part should be 16 bars long and I want to use only cymbals and hats in it. While this first part is being sung, I want Jamstix to randomly lay down some cool hats and cymbals rhythm patterns to support the singer in this part, which will be backed up by an acoustic piano. I've tried Jamstix Intro, unchecking Last Bar Only. Then I noticed there's a few options under Style, such as cymbals, hats open and hats. I've tried them all but didn't like the results: they sound too mechanical and repetitive. What I'm looking for is a way to have both cymbals and hats take turns and randomly fill in the bars with a few nice rhythm patterns. In case there isn't a way to do it in Jamstix ATM, would you please consider adding this feature in a future update? This is of pivotal importance in the kind of music I make. I'm providing you with a couple of audio clips so you have a better idea of what I'm after. Thanks and keep it up!

Warning - a click on the first link sent my computer into a total spasm and shut down my antivirus software - I am scanning now to see if any damage was done.

Sorry if a false alarm but better safe than sorry. there....

Nothing wrong here jazzmandan! I've tried the links more than once, haven't had any troubles at all! Must have been something else. Hope you can sort it out. All the best!

Well it was not good for me!

The instant I clicked on the link the computer reacted with several beeps and then shut down all on its own. When I rebooted I noticed my antivirus software was inactivated. I reactived and ran a full scan and the following bugs appeared.

I don't know the OP, and with his multiple posts and his quick feedback I can assume he is legit. Perhaps a few other daring folks can click on the links to let us know, but I don't advise it.

Though, as I said, I had no issues with the links (after checking them myself several times), I'm very sorry for the trouble caused. I've decided to email Ralph just to be on the safe side. All the best!

I had no problem with the links either Renan_Lima.

As to your original question, I know this sounds nuts probably, but have you tried lowering the song power? You could also move kit pieces out of the drummers range of motion to force him to use only cymbals, create your intro part this way and then splice it onto the rest of your drum track.

The James Stix model has a Cymbals preset in the dropdown menu. You could also use redirection and send everything to Low Cymbals, that might get you in the ball park. It's not a perfect answer but it should work.

I discovered something interesting while looking further into this R_L. In your data>players folder there are *.prp files which are the player presets in the dropdown menu. You can copy and rename these with a different drummer's name and they will then show up in that player's preset dropdown. The different player's AI appears to affect the generated parts so this looks like a method to vary the preset even further. So if you rename James Stix_Cymbals.prp to *my drummer*_Cymbals.prp the "Cymbals" preset will appear in the drummer you already are using in your song.

It's literally a dream come true for me R_L, there's no other way to describe it. If Jambassist turns out to be 1/2 as great........ Wink
